生长分化因子11 (GDF-11) 属于转化生长因子β (TGF-β) 家族。它与TGF-β受体ALK4、ALK5和ALK7结合，激活SMAD信号通路（Ho等）。GDF-11调控嗅觉系统、视网膜和胰腺的发育，以及轴骨骼的前后轴模式形成（Lee和Lee）。GDF-11是一种内分泌因子，在骨骼肌、脑和牙髓中表达（Kondás等）。小鼠研究表明，GDF-11调控肌肉和心脏衰老，并通过重塑血管刺激神经发生（Katsimpardi等；Loffredo等；Sinha等）。

(A) The biological activity of Human/Mouse Recombinant GDF-11 was tested by its ability to inhibit alkaline phosphatase production in ATDC-5 cells. Inhibition of alkaline phosphatase production was measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which alkaline phosphatase activity is at 50% of maximum. The EC50 in the above example is 2.63 ng/mL. (B) 1 μg of Human/Mouse Recombinant GDF-11 was resolved with SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (-) conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining.
